Having an up-to-date list of both employees and company contacts available to all employees is extremely useful for any company. 4. Company Schedule
One of the major problems with trying to keep an Intranet sight current is maintaining date-specific information such as a company event calendar. Unfortunately, these are usually the most useful parts of a company Intranet site. To remedy this, Intranet-in-a-box provides a simple "Microsoft Outlook" style event management interface. Simply add events to the calendar as they become available and the Intranet-in-a-box software will take care of the rest. It automatically keeps up to date, showing employees all of the upcoming events. There are even default event types such as:
- Meetings
- Holidays
- Pay Days
- Product Releases
- Parties
This makes adding new events even more easy.

With Intranet-in-a-box you can finally keep track of all your company resources. Meeting rooms always seem to cause conflicts for small businesses. It always ends up that your design team has planned a meeting for the same time as sales wants to talk to a client. With Intranet-in-a-box all you need to do is add your meeting room to its list of available resources. Once you have done this, your employees can conveniently book the meeting room through the Intranet site. The software automatically prevents conflicting bookings. Only you can override bookings through your Intranet-in-a-box software. In addition to meetings, any other resources your company has can be similarly managed. Intranet-in-a-box provides a simple windows interface to manage a directory of computer files (such as documents and spread sheets). In addition, you can also add URLs (links to websites) to this directory. For example, you could have a directory of all your clients' websites, or a directory of all the sites related to one account. After you have added a resource to this directory, it will automatically be shared via a similar directory on your Intranet site. If you decide you no longer wish to share a folder of resources with your employees you can hide them so they will only show up in the Intranet-in-a-box program, and not on your Intranet site.

8. 100% Native HTML Components
Many Intranet management tools use ActiveX and Java Applets for common components not provided by HTML (such as calendars and directory lists). Although this provides a simple solution for the company developing the software, it ends up causing nothing but headaches for the companies that try to use their software. Many times these ActiveX and Java Applets don't load properly for Intranet users, showing up as red X's. ActiveX and Java Applets also behave differently on different machines, letting some users use the Intranet while blocking those with older machines. In addition to this, ActiveX and Java Applets require extra programs to run on the client's machine, resulting in slow and clumsy page loading. In-a-box-software uses only 100% native HTML controls. All of the calendars, time selectors, and directory views on your Intranet-in-a-box are built from 100% standard HTML, and are thus part of the actual webpages.
